Primary Care Weight Loss Injection Service
With effect from 27 February 2026, YHP will no longer be providing the above service across Humber and North Yorkshire. This follows a decision by the ICB not to commission this specific service beyond this date.
The ICB is required to procure a new contract for 2026/27 onwards; however, funding for this service has not yet been confirmed by NHS England. NHS England has advised that the ICB is unable to commence procurement until implementation funding has been formally agreed.
As a result, there will be a temporary pause in the service for any new patients entering the service from 27 February 2026. All existing patients, who are already enrolled on the service (by 27.02.26), will continue to be seen under the current service arrangements.
Once funding is confirmed by NHS England, the ICB will seek to establish longer-term commissioning arrangements for patients to access tirzepatide for overweight and obesity, as per the NHS interim commissioning position, following the correct procurement processes.
Any queries should be directed to the ICB: https://humberandnorthyorkshire.org.uk/contact-us/
Tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro®) is a new medication recently recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for some adults living with obesity. This service will deem if a patient is eligible for treatment and will direct them on for treatment and wraparound care if eligible.
